I have an HTC Magic bought in Belgium, and it is not something I can
recommend. It can not be considered an open phone as it is very restricted
in what you can install or not and you are in the hands of Proximus to
update the ROM and OS (if they ever do so)

   - No technicals service from HTC because it is a branded phone> they
reffer you to Proximus. In Proximus page only advertising of their service
   and no support (
   http://customer.proximus.be/en/Mobile_Internet_Lap/HTC_Magic.html).
   - Telephone crippled by Proximus:
      - Can not buy applications in android market, only use free aps.
      - No youtuve videos (works in non proximus phones).

Besides that I have some issues with the way the telephone works, namely:

   - Can't change default google calendar: it is always the phone's calendar
which does not sync with my gcal account, and not mine.
   - Can not move notes among calendars. Need to create a new one if you
   make a mistake.
   - General alarm problems for events in the calendar.
   - Slow phonebook and calls, sometimes 5 or more seconds (but quality is
   good once it gets stablished).
   - A lot of data sync going on all the time. You neeed to dive many levels
in the menu to stop it if you remember (too much attention to be dedicated
to the phone). Apps to manage it and skip clicks are a must, but they use up
   ressources.
   - Can not install a Spanish keyboard. I write messages in 3 languages and
need the accents. Only three keyboard layouts are available.
   - Can not close apps without installing another app to do so. You just
change screens, but they keep on running.
   - Very limited copy and paste in the browser.
   - Camera is way too slow to take pictures.
   - Not very intuitive.
   - Lack of control over options.

As I said, I do like the call quality and it does look and feel good, but my
valuation is negative.

Cheers,

Ramón Suárez
