A ma conaissance Grub se met à jour tout seul. Lorsqu'on ajoute un 
noyau, il ajoute une entrée dans menu.lst

du genre:
Searching for GRUB installation directory ... found: /boot/grub .
Testing for an existing GRUB menu.list file... found: /boot/grub/menu.lst .
Searching for splash image... none found, skipping...
Found kernel: /vmlinuz-2.6.8-2-k7
Found kernel: /vmlinuz-2.6.8-1-k7
Found kernel: /vmlinuz-2.6.7-1-k7
Updating /boot/grub/menu.lst ... done
