Do you have /usr/lib/perl/5.8.4/IO/File.pm ? It should come from the
perl-base package ? I don't know how it could have been removed.
If you don't have it you may download perl-base, uncompress it
mkdir /tmp/t && dpkg --extract perl-base....deb /tmp/t
and copy /tmp/t/usr/lib/perl/5.8.4/IO/File.pm to the appropriate
location.
