Subject: Coordination of the G-LUG meeting and Install party 15 April
Date: Wed, 07 Apr 2004 13:20:02 +0200

Hi,

It is quite about time to start a discussion about the G-LUG meeting and the Gnu/Linux Install Party istelf.

You will find the programmes of the conferences on the plone of FFII and on the website of the greens BUT we have now set up a Wiki to prepare concretely the G-LIP http://wiki.ael.be/index.php/EuroLug

The G-LUG meeting is from 9 to 11. What doyou want to discuss ? What issues do you want to see on the table ? Why did you come all the way to Brussels ?

One idea could be that G-LUGs be divided into 3 groups :
Group 1 : what is a G-LUG ? What is the situation in my country (this can be particularly interesting for persons from the new members states of the EU because we don't know so much about them).
Group 2 : what could G-LUGs do at European level thinking about the fact that more and more laws that shape the "information society" are decided in Brussels (EUCD, IP enforcement, sofwtare patents ....) ?
Group 3 : what do G-LUGs want from Brussels/EP : is the ruling against Microsoft by the European Commission appropriate ? Should EU institutions switch to free/open source software ?

The install party (from 11 to 12.30) is a moment where 10 Green Members of European Parliament (or candidates) will install (onder the guidance of a developper from his/her country or language) a free software (a knoppix) on a computer. Have registered so far : Monica Frassoni (Italy), Dany Cohn-Bendit (Germany-France), Hiltrud Breyer (Germany), Pierre Jonckhere (Belgium), Bart Staes (Belgium), Hélène Flautre (France), Benjamin von der Ahe (Germany), Arnold Cassola (Malta).
There is a Wifi connection so anybody can participate of course.

Please comment and participate ...
