Hi Philippe,

You can read
http://christoph.gaitzsch.bei.t-online.de/video_with_linux.html as a
reference for TV recording.

You can use a wrapper script to easily record any channel, at any time,
so it easy to schedule recordings with cron:
http://mrj.bpa.nu/tvr

There is also a very useful tool to record videos from the console: VCR
You can apt-get it from Debian (Sid at least). Read the Readme file
/usr/share/doc/vcr and man page; you'll find your way easily. For more
info:
http://www.stack.nl/~brama/vcr/

The master tool to work with video under GNU/Linux is transcode
http://www.theorie.physik.uni-goettingen.de/~ostreich/transcode/

It's hard to use at first, but eventually you'll find how powerful and
flexible it is.

If you have more specific questions about it, please don't hesitate to
ask me.

Carlos
